That statement is a bit of a misnomer, isn't it? Oh, please don't misunderstand me...the Holidays can be truly a wonderful, spiritual and festive time of year. And it can also be a sad and stressful time of year.
The first Christmas without a loved one.
Keeping your budget in check.
Untangling those lights.
Trying to avoid those extra pounds.
Finding the perfect gift.
The list goes on.
I am not a shopper. I love giving gifts and making people happy – and I don't need a reason or a holiday. Any time I see something that shows how I feel about someone, I'm all over it. But shopping under pressure?!? Forget it. It's always the same – when you MUST find something, you absolutely cannot.
The same can be said for when the heavens open, you hear the angels sing, and there, right in front of you, gleaming and shining as if it was the Holy Grail, you see it. THE PERFECT GIFT – and you don't need it.
It would be a home run but....you don't exchange gifts with that person. Ah – the trials and tribulations of 'holiday shopping'. We can't win.
Well – I found the Holy Grail for someone. We don't exchange gifts but you know what? I bought it. Yes – I bought it. It was impulsive. It was spontaneous. And I have no idea when I'll get it to them. But, it will bring them joy and isn't THAT what the “Finding Joy in the Holidays” is?
Joy to them. Joy to you. Joy to the world.
