What Color Are You?

Some painters transform the sun into a yellow spot, others transform a yellow spot into the sun. - Pablo Picasso

Yellow is the most luminous of all the colors of the spectrum. It is the color of happiness and optimism, of enlightenment and creativity, sunshine and spring.  Children use yellow crayons to draw the sun in their pictures.  Baby chicks are yellow.  Happy Faces are yellow. The Tour de France jersey is yellow.  Nature shines with yellow in Sunflowers, Daffodils, Bees, Lemons, Fall Foliage and Egg yolks.

Yellow flowers brighten a room - and perhaps heal your heart when sad.  Shades of yellow and gold bring peace in sunsets.

Yellow is the color of wisdom and emotions. It energizes, relieves depression, and improves memory.
In yoga, the Solar Plexus Chakra is yellow corresponding to self worth, personality and ego.

Yellow and all of it's shades is beautiful.  It is not, however, my favorite color.  It isn't even on the list of top 5.  Green is my favorite.  It is the color of harmony (and who doesn't love harmony?) and is the sanctuary away from stress.  Green gives us the ability to love unconditionally.  It loves to contribute and is the color of charity.  It is the color of the garden lover, the home lover and the good host - and I can unequivocally say that's me to a T.  I find it a comforting color - relaxing and calm.

I guess everyone needs a little yellow once in a while in their lives though - a little happiness - a little burst of energy - a little ray of sunshine to heal.
